POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Axia is seeking a detail-oriented and highly passionate Senior Accounting Associate to join our team and play a key role in supporting our residential renewable energy business. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of GAAP accounting. In this role, you will also need a high level of attention to detail, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The Senior Accounting Associate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting activities, with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial transactions, month-end processes, and audits. This position requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic setting, can consistently execute under pressure, and contribute to team-wide initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and maintain financial integrity.
This position will be based out of our office in San Francisco, CA with an in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with company policies and procedures.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately input financial transactions into accounting software, including invoices, receipts, and expense reports 
  • Process accounts payable invoices, generate customer invoices, and follow up on outstanding payments with various departments 
  • Manage sales tax filing and payments across multiple states. 
  • Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies 
  • Execute critical tasks during the month-end closing process, such as preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheets, and analyzing revenue and expenses. 
  • Assist with internal and external audits by compiling necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technical Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis, to gain a deeper understanding of operational processes. 
  • Review and record journal entries during month-end close, including payroll, accruals, prepaids, and amortizations. 
  • Maintaining account receivable aging report. Track and record customer payments and monitor accounts for discrepancies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree with 5+ years professional work experience or a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field with 3+ years of professional work experience with a minimum of +3 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance. 
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and technical accounting standards. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Advanced Excell skills for data analysis and reporting 
  • Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.   
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills    
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently. 
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment under strict deadlines   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with NetSuite.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
