CORPORATE LICENSE DIRECTOR

SUMMARY

The Corporate License Director (CLD) plays a critical role in maintaining the legal and professional standing of the company within the construction industry. As the Responsible Managing Officer (RMO), the CLO ensures that the company operates under a valid contractor's license and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. The CLD’s responsibilities are essential for the company to conduct licensed work legally and ethically. The CLD serves exclusively in this role for the company unless express permission is granted by Senior Leadership to engage with any additional entities.

This position reports to the Senior Project Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is remote, and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, unless otherwise required. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Corporate License Director– Responsibilities

In consideration of the mutual promises set forth herein, and for other good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency and receipt of which are hereby acknowledged, the parties agree as follows:

  • Provision of Licensing Services
    The Corporate License Director agrees to:
    • Permit the company to use his/her license in support of business operations and serve as the Responsible Managing Officer (RMO).
    • Maintain good standing with all relevant licensing authorities, ensuring full compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
    • Assist the company with all filings, renewals, or other actions required to sustain the use of licensing services.
  • Notification of Service Disruption
    The CLD shall promptly notify the company if unable to continue providing services. A minimum grace period of 60 days is required before termination of services, unless otherwise authorized by Senior Leadership.
  • Project Supervision and Compliance Oversight
    • The CLD shall supervise company projects as required by state law and licensing regulations when his/her license is associated with the project(s).
    • The CLD shall conduct regular audits of Regional License Officer (RLO) projects to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Based on audit results, the CLD will provide technical and administrative support to the RLO.
    • In cases of suspected intentional misconduct or regulatory breaches, the CLD is obligated to report such findings to the company immediately.
  • Liability and Risk Management
    The company acknowledges and accepts responsibility for any incidents occurring on projects under the CLD’s license, except in cases of negligence or willful misconduct by the CLD.
  • Insurance and Bonding Requirements
    The company agrees to:
    • Include the Corporate License Director title under its Directors & Officers (D&O) liability insurance.
    • Maintain appropriate Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance coverage.
    • Provide performance bonding, where required, for construction projects involving the CLD’s license or oversight.

Additional Duties
The Corporate License Director may take on further responsibilities as the position adapts to the evolving demands of the organization and the regulatory environment.

  • Regular attendance, in line with the company's attendance policy and supervisory directives, is a crucial requirement for this role.
  • Additionally, the officer is expected to undertake other tasks and special projects as directed by Management.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in electrical construction is required, along with at least 8 years in solar and/or renewable energy construction.
  • The candidate must possess two or more electrical licenses and be able to pass both criminal and financial background checks.
  • They should demonstrate leadership capabilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • The individual must prioritize tasks effectively to support project timelines and deadlines, showcasing excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with all organizational levels, along with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), is necessary.
  • Familiarity with construction management software (such as Procore) and project management tools (like Primavera, Microsoft Project, Monday.com, etc.) is also required.
  • A robust technical background is essential, including a thorough understanding of the National Electric Code, engineering design, construction processes, and regulatory standards.

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possesses a diverse background in electrical construction, encompassing residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all facets of the electrical industry, including equipment manufacturing, international supply chains, distribution, estimation, construction, quality control, commissioning, operation and maintenance, dismantling, and recycling.
  • Skilled in assessing the performance of renewable energy generation systems, performing root cause analyses, and offering recommendations to enhance design, construction methods, and alternative materials and equipment, all aimed at delivering higher quality projects. Additionally, has prior experience in creating a corporate trade licensing program.

  • Travel: up to 20% as needed

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
