GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT MECHANICAL

SUMMARY

The General Superintendent Mechanical will manage the various project team members as it relates to their craft. Establish standards, training, leadership training for the construction team and department. This position reports to the Field Operations Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO of the company may designate. This position is hybrid, you will work out of your home office and out of different jobsites, working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 75%.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Manage and lead the superintendents and their craft throughout the duration of the project
 Assist in developing detailed CPM schedules for all installation activities and in developing a schedule of values to aid the billing process
 Coordinate activities, schedule, material procurement, project logistics, and temporary facility plans with the project manager and field staff
 Review and approve materials/equipment for Mechanical/Structural systems and monitor the installation and startup of those systems, resolving any conflicts prior to starting work
 Prepare reports and communicate progress to Project Managers/Directors as needed, and to project Owners during weekly meetings
 Review contract documents and make improvements suggestions as needed
 Supervise, develop, and mentor Electrical/Mechanical/Structural/Civil Project Engineers
 Supervise, review, and coordination of submittals and shop drawings
 Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results;
 Provide cost estimation, including but not limited to:
 Site Due Diligence–Evaluate potential project sites as part of development due diligence
 Identify and project costs related to time, materials, and labor
 Track actual costs and assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services
 Cost reporting–Prepare reports regarding the current status of a project to show estimated costs, revenues, and project timeline; and
 Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Management.
 Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position; and

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 7+ years experience in site supervision
 Proven track record as a Superintendent on large projects with values above $20 million (electrical portions of contracts)
 Thorough knowledge of Construction Code
 Medium voltage experience
 General understanding of building codes, mechanical codes, electrical codes, and plumbing codes as they relate to construction of project
 Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors
 Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience managing the performance of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects
 Minimum of 2 years of solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred
 Industrial relations knowledge for recognizing and resolving potential labor issues
 Knowledge of Company construction guides and manuals
 Construction safety awareness and comprehension
 Conflict Management Skills

 Problem-solving Skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve)

 Extensive work experience in management and completion of large scale projects in a responsible position (in particularly, solar HV & PV projects)

 Demonstrated ability in managing projects: development, planning, installation and execution
 Knowledge in Microsoft office tools
 Fluent in written and spoken English; other language skills are a plus
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
 Lead team meetings over conference calls 
 Assertive, able to cope with pressure, Be a team player
 Ability to travel, up to 75% of the time

 

EXAMPLES PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc. 
 Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.)
 Able to walk or move continuosuly while carrying 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
 Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
 Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
 Requires repetitive movement
