POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Q CELLS Home Energy Solutions seeks a Design Engineer to manage and control projects through administrative and specialized expertise with the Home Energy System division. This position will be responsible for the support and management of the design accuracy of solar energy and battery storage from the site survey review and up to the project receiving final inspection. Major responsibilities include submission of design requests to various third-party drafting firms, verification of scope and design accuracy for code compliance, reporting on design accuracy, cycle time and support of the Field Operations team in managing the design and construction of solar and solar plus battery systems. 

This is a key position with the responsibility for QA of final designs, confirming scope of work, and ensuring the sold deal matches the scope of work. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with strong analytical skills, great attention to detail, and problem solving and communication skills. This position will be based out of the Irvine, CA office, with an in-office schedule that is set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the company policies and procedures. Remote options are available for exceptional cases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and submit Drafting package for third party Auto Cad drafters. 
  • Become a subject matter expert on the Qcells Q.Home battery system and Q.Volt string inverter for residential applications.
  • Perform quality reviews on completed design packages.
  • Confirm scope of work and generate work orders for construction.
  • Compare the scope of work against the signed agreement and ensure the project was sold with the appropriate adders.
  • Create a system to streamline or automate work order creation.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews with design vendors on performance
  • Review operational procedures and ensure conformance to industry best practices.
  • Analyze data to understand the most common design failures and provide feedback to design vendors on areas for improvement.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Minimum of 5 - 8 years’ work experience as an engineer with minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in solar system design and engineering. 
  • Impeccable attention to detail. 
  • Ability to exercise strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Detailed, analytical thinker with ability to recruit and lead quantitative talent. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present credit management, vision and strategy in internal and external forums. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-growth environment. 
  • Process driven while finding long-term solutions. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, design, engineering or related field.
