SENIOR MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY 

The Senior Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations, general safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, coordination with other superintendent and project leaders on the jobsite. This position reports to the Construction Manager or another senior management personnel that the Head of Department may designate.  This position reports to the assigned jobsite office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and jobsite office.  Working hours are project specific and will be set with each project.

 

This position may be expected to travel at least 100%, or as needed for the project.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

          Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position

  • Oversees solar/construction personnel and/or installation subcontractors to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications

          Coordination of personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules.

          Support the team with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for activities

          Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action

          Follow and implement the company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy

          Coordinate and implement resources and activities necessary to maintain a safe and quality execution

          Assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance

          Coordination with supplier materials / testing as needed

          Advise site teams and subcontractors on paperwork needed / collected to support QA

          Identify testing required per projects scope of work

          Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

          Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience supporting the constructions of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects

          Solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred

          Willingness to travel and relocate from project to project

          Excellent skills in MS Project or comparable project management tool, and possess strong technical aptitude, including knowledge of software development methodologies and processes

          Strong in Microsoft Office Suite

          Fluent in written and spoken English and Excellent written and verbal communication skills

          Experience reviewing mechanical manuals of installation and design technical packages, understand different scope requirements to meet project needs

          Assertive, able to cope with pressure, and maintain a team player attitude

          Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

          Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

          May have to interact with Owner's Field Representative and outside testing agencies

          Knowledge of installation methods for the different mechanical systems in the industry

 

EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

          Body Position: frequently remains standing and moving up to 90% of the time in a 8-10 hour work day

          Move/Traverse: frequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk

          Carry Weight: frequently carry weight and/or lift objects {light to heavy) weighing up to 50 pounds          Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

          Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far

          Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office/equipment/trenches upper and lower

          Travel: up to 75%, or as needed by the project

          Regular professional, construction site setting

          Noise level ranges from low to moderate (if in office trailer setting)

          Noise level ranges from moderate to high (if on construction worksite)

          Flexibility to work night shifts

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
