POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director, Power Sales and Policy to lead our energy storage and renewable energy initiatives with a focus on the New York market. This senior role combines strategic leadership, market expertise, and stakeholder management to drive the commercialization and deployment of renewable energy solutions, including energy storage systems (ESS).

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the power market, advanced knowledge of energy storage systems, and established relationships with key stakeholders, particularly ConEdison and other New York utilities. This role demands a strategic thinker capable of aligning technical expertise with business development and market opportunities.

This position reports to the Corporate Officer, Head of C&I Business Group. This position will be based out of our New Jersey office, with an in-office schedule that is set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the Company policies and procedures. Remote options could be considered for exceptional cases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute power marketing strategies for ESS and renewable energy projects, aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance to internal teams on market entry, project development, and commercial opportunities.
  • Serve as a thought leader, representing the company in industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

  Market Expertise:

  • Stay at the forefront of market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape in the New York power market.
  • Anticipate changes in market dynamics and develop actionable strategies to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Provide insights into evolving utility programs, energy policies, and ESS incentives.

  Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with ConEdison, other utilities, regulatory bodies, and key market participants.
  • Serve as the primary company representative for interconnection discussions, regulatory approvals, and grid-related negotiations.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and market integration.

  Business Development:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities for ESS and renewable energy solutions, including Grid Services (i.e. Peak Load management, Demand Reduction), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, and capacity contracts.
  • Lead negotiations and manage complex deal structures in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop proposals, pricing strategies, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

  Technical Expertise and Oversight:

  • Oversee ESS project design and optimization efforts, ensuring alignment with market requirements and financial objectives.
  • Lead evaluations of interconnection processes, energy storage modeling, and market participation strategies.
  • Support cross-functional teams in ensuring project feasibility and optimal performance.

  Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Work closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to align technical and commercial goals.
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment between all internal and external stakeholders.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field (MBA or Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in energy markets, ESS, renewable energy, or power marketing roles, with leadership experience.
  • Proven expertise in managing relationships with utilities, regulatory bodies, and large-scale energy buyers.

  Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of ESS technology, renewable energy systems, and grid interconnection processes.
  • Deep understanding of the New York energy market, including ConEdison’s operations and regulatory framework.
  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of closing complex deals.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with proficiency in energy modeling and market analysis tools.

  Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as needed within the New York region and nationally.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
