GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT OF SURVEY

SUMMARY

The General Superintendent of Survey is responsible for overseeing Survey Superintendents and managing the completion of projects. They are responsible for supervising project models

This position reports to the Director of Projects or another management personnel that the CEO of the company designates. This position is in Ankeny, IA and hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 75%.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The General Superintendent, Survey oversees the daily field operations of Multiple Survey Superintendents
  • Setup and initialization of multiple GPS systems per job site
  • Troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues efficiently
  • Training Survey Superintendents and other craft personnel in proficient, safe operation of various survey equipment
  • Setting and maintaining Standards of Procedure in line with Qcells Self-perform construction goals
  • Determine the most efficient plan of action for data acquisition for field surveys ranging from primary control through construction layout and as-built surveys, as needed.
  • Understand and follow directions.
  • Proficient with documentation of work performed and sketches.
  • Communicate daily with Survey Superintendents regarding project schedule and work progress.
  • Hire, train, and manage personnel sufficient to meet the survey needs of multiple projects
  • Interact professionally with client representatives and landowners
  • Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications and understand all aspects of the project specifications and tolerances.
  • Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork.
  • Maintain vehicle and field equipment
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with the company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of Survey Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial or utility scale projects.
  • Experience with various survey and GPS equipment/systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, writing and verbal)
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
  • Ability to travel for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in all-weather climates.
  • Good attitude, eager, willing to learn, proactive. 
  • (Preferred) Experience in constructing PV and/or ESS projects. 
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards 
  • Basic competency with email and basic computer functions 
  • Ability to prioritize work activity. 
  • Ability to work within a team and take direction from team leaders.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Valid Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record

  • Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far
  • Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors
  • Travel: up to 75% as needed

This job position is specific to Qcells USA Corp. only and not any other Hanwha affiliates. The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
