INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

SUMMARY

 

In this role you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the installation and commissioning of battery energy storage systems and related components. Working with the EPC contractor and battery/equipment suppliers you will be responsible for ensuring that our battery systems meet requirements across multiple customer sites. This position reports to the Installation and Commissioning Manager, or another management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position reports to the Irvine, CA office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office, the Irvine, CA office, and at project sites. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time but may vary when working on site. This position is expected to travel up to 50% of the time.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Support BESS commissioning and coordinate with internal project management team, external resources such as engineer consultants, other specialized professionals 
  • Assist in qualifying pre-construction drawings with engineering 
  • Assist in pre-construction project planning 
  • Ability to maintain oversight of several projects in different stages of construction 
  • Support smooth transition from construction to commissioning 
  • Communicating with customers, contractors, engineers, and other departments 
  • Maintain running punch check list & handover QA/QC 
  • Support battery system commissioning with vendors and lead battery system operational troubleshooting during commissioning 
  • Manage field issues and root cause analysis with the supplier to ensure successful commissioning 
  • Drive closed loop learning of field issues to improve product quality and to improve site commissioning time
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the supplier systems and solutions to be able to manage and communicate technical risks to the broader Q CELLS EPC team 
  • Maintain job site safety atmosphere 
  • Travel as needed to project sites, up to 50% 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • 2+ years experience in an engineering role from any of the following industries, such as EPC, energy storage, battery manufacturing or system integrator 
  • 1+ years of direct energy storage project experience 
  • Deep knowledge in PV and battery system installation, construction, and commissioning 
  • Technical knowledge in broad area of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, Safety, Test/Validation) 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, or other related fields 
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors
  • Travel: up to 50% as needed

The anticipated starting pay range of this position, which is to be located in Irvine, CA is $125,000 - $145,000 base salary per year.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
