Corporate Counsel

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an In-House Counsel on-site in our Irvine, California office. You will join a collegial team of 13 legal professionals and report to the Sr. Corporate Counsel.  You will be given responsibilities primarily in managing and matters for EnFin (www.enfin.com), our residential solar business offering solar loans, leases, and power purchase agreements.  Our legal team is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years and there will be exciting opportunities for career growth. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support Financing, Sales and Marketing, Fulfillment and Digital and Software teams of the direct-to-homeowner business and the sales, marketing, product, and technology teams of the company’s broader businesses. 
• Negotiate, draft and review various commercial agreements with customers , partners and other third-parties’ agreements.
• Licensing, regulatory and compliance 
• Support the residential solar financing, third-party ownership (TPO) and distributed energy teams with asset backed securities, tax equity transactions, warehousing lending facilities and other project financing-related transactions, including drafting and negotiating all transaction documents for the Company’s direct-to-homeowner business and for the Company’s sales, marketing, product, and technology teams as necessary for the Company’s broader businesses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide strategic business-oriented legal advice.
• Supervise and manage outside counsel in various matters on an as-needed basis.
• Manage and control outside counsel spend.
• Ability to proactively persuade and close contract negotiations in a timely manner.
• Ability to track weekly updates on contract statuses.
• Create legal and commercial forms and processes and educate the business on important legal and commercial matters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience 
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing projects.
• Capability and experience to work independently and with a team
• Top law firm training preferred
• Some in-house experience preferred, but not required
• Experience working for a direct-to-homeowner solar financing, distributed energy and/or TPO business at a clean energy or global technology company

• JD from a top law school preferred
• Membership in at least one state bar
