FIELD ENGINEER

SUMMARY

The role of the Field Engineer is dynamic and integral to the successful execution and delivery of solar construction projects. The ideal candidate will assist with all miscellaneous project needs from logistics, inspections, tool management, drawing review, superintendent support etc. This position requires an agile and proactive approach to support project-based personnel and craft trades, ensuring technical, material, and administrative tasks align with Qcells' project delivery standards of excellence. 

This position reports to the Construction Engineer, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is project-based and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours will be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 100%. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Regular Project Coordination and Compliance:
    • Assist with the coordination and resolution of engineering requests for           project-based personnel.
    • Manage the procurement of materials specific to trade requirements in line with project timelines.
    • Secure and maintain all necessary permits for assigned tasks throughout the project’s duration.
  • Communication and Documentation:
    • Ensure effective collaboration with team members to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders, including       third-party engineers and owners.
    • Oversee the creation, compilation, and management of reports and technical documentation.
    • Maintain comprehensive records and control over project documents.
  • Operational Support and Quality Management:
    • Support superintendents through daily timekeeping and reporting of staff, equipment, and material usage.
    • Aid in developing project execution plans, monitoring schedules, and performing quality control checks to ensure compliance with project standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections of ongoing and completed work to uphold quality assurance.
  • Safety Leadership and Environmental Stewardship:
    • Champion safety by leading by example, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety practices and standards.
    • Conduct job hazard analyses before project commencement and advocate for continuous safe behavior among the crew.
    • Manage environmental compliance by ensuring the proper training and certification of field staff.
  • Professional Development and Team Support:
    • Develop trade-specific training materials and execute inspection and testing plans.
    • Strengthen third-party relationships through professional communication and meeting client expectations.
    • Set a positive example in both safety and quality for team members and subcontractors.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Regular attendance in accordance with the company's policy is essential.
    • Take part in technical meetings and meticulous minute-taking.
    • Perform other duties and special projects as directed by supervisory or senior management.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or another related field, or;
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience (2 years work experience is equivalent to 1 year of education).
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability in supporting projects: development, planning, installation, and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel full-time.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
 
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Stationary Position: frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day
  • Move/Traverse: infrequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk
  • Carry Weight: infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far
  • Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors
  • Travel: Up to 100%

  • Regular professional, project-based construction office business setting
  • Noise level ranges from moderate to high (if on construction worksite)
