Director of Business Development Solar EPC

 

 

QCELLS Enable is the EPC entity of Qcells for large commercial and industrial and utility scale solar markets (minimum size of project is 5MW and over).  Our mission is to provide world class design and installation of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US.  Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end-to-end solutions for project developers and asset managers.  We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently in our Teaneck, New Jersey headquarters.

 

SUMMARY

This position is accountable for selling Qcells‘ Solar EPC(Engineering, Procurement and Construction) services to the clients who are developers, facility owners or other business partners. Typical project size of the company’s EPC services is 5MWdc - 100MWdc. 

 

The successful candidate should possess a proven track record of B2B business development and sales, and a great understanding on solar, EPC business and the contract.

 

The successful candidate should have the ability to drive the opportunity to the contract by working with internal parties and the client in a fast and timely manner.

 

The successful candidate should also have the capability of strategic thinking and building and managing the team to perform properly.

 

Existing networks with potential clients and/or experience in major solar product or EPC company are strong plus.

 

This position will report to Head of Enable. This position will be in-office or hybrid.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Responsible for the entire business development and sales process from the origination of opportunities to the contract with the cooperation with the related internal parties.
  • Build the right strategy and execution plan to achieve the corporate annual and multi-year new business development and sales target.
  • Develop and maintain the strong networks with the clients, and originate EPC sales pipeline for its own.
  • Develops effective differentiators and negotiation strategies and understands all key commercial and legal issues.
  • Build the best-in-class estimation and proposal standard for the competitiveness as well as accuracy
  • Strategic thinking and contractual knowledge to develop various formation of agreement for long term partnership with the clients, including but not limited to framework agreement, master service agreement and/or partnership agreement etc.
  • Proactively cooperate with broader sales community of Qcells and set up the proper working process to increase the project pipeline and to enhance the winning ratio through such cooperation. 
  • Supervise and manage the entire project pipeline of business development team and make the appropriate report periodically to Head of Enable. 
  • Analyzes and interprets Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and Requests for Proposal (RFPs); Establishes deliverable matrix and development schedule.
  • Generate the winning strategy equipped with proper intelligence from the client, competitors and market. 
  • Must be able to work with confidential information and ensure the security of this information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as reasonably assigned by supervisor and/or Head of the company.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Technical discipline or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 10+ years‘ experience of sales/business development for EPC contract in large C&I(5MW+) or utility solar or renewable construction industry;
  • A proven track record of successful sales including but not limited to managing multiple accounts and projects, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines simultaneously.
  • Solar industry experience. 
  • Computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, analytical, solutions-building, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company.
  • In-depth knowledge in the various types of contract and ability to negotiate the contracts with the client.
  • Team player and a willingness to learn.
  • Deadline-oriented with an ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic environment.
  • Diligent and professional work ethics.

  • Travel: up to 50% as needed

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. If candidates are considered for a nationwide role, then the compensation range will follow the marketability of the job function within those states. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
