CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

QCELLS Enable is the EPC branch of Qcells for the Commercial, Industrial, Distributed Generation, and Small Utility Scale solar markets. Our mission is to provide world class design and installation of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US.  Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end-to-end solutions for project developers and asset managers.  We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently in our Teaneck, New Jersey headquarters.

 

SUMMARY

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for accountable for preparing cost estimates for commercial and industrial (1MW-100MW) Renewable Energy Projects in the pre-construction phase.  The Succesful candidate will analyze project plans to gain a thorough understanding of projects and cost requirements.  Additonally, the cancidate will compile and analyze subcontractors and vendors bids.  The Estimator will work closely with Construction, Engineering, Procurement and Project Management during project implementation as needed.

 

This position reports to the Director of Operations, or another senior management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is hybrid. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for cost estimating of Commercial and Industrial (1MW-100MW) renewable energy projects in pre-construction phase 
  • Analyze project plans to gain a thorough understanding of project and cost requirements 
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors that are providing bids on these projects during the development phase 
  • Interface with Construction, Engineering, Project Management and Procurement during project implementation as needed
  • Continuously review active and completed projects to improve cost estimating on future projects 
  • Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Construction Management to provide accurate estimates of internal company costs for projects 
  • Provide a comparison of internal and external labor costs for projects
  • Compile costs (including but not limited to rentals, equipment, material) and work with internal stakeholders to increase project margins
  • Coordinate with construction and key stakeholders to develop construction budget
  • Assist with Preparation of bid packages and SOW for sub-contractors and vendors
  • Support Qcells Planning group with reporting functions
  • Maintaining records and databases
  • All other assignments and special projects, as requested by Management
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Estimating experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience estimating PV and/or ESS projects; required 
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and capable of working independently 
  • Ability to travel, up to 15% of the time;
  • Experience with HeavyBid, Procore or other estimating Software
  • OSHA 30 & SST-10 Certifications; preferred
  • Strong computer skills including and operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with Procore or similar software preferred 
  • A valid driver’s license, preferred
  • Organized, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, required
  • Excellent ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company, required
  • Working knowledge of common construction materials and methods, preferred
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic, environment

EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Stationary position: frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day 
  • Move/Traverse: infrequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk 
  • Carry Weight: infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds 
  • Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations 
  • Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far 
  • Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors 
  • Travel: up to 20% as needed
